| India
has got vast and varied natural resources
like minerals, forests, rivers, fertile
agricultural land and long sea coast. The
country is engaged in implementing various
plan programmes to achieve the status of
a developed nation by 2020. In order to
have a sustainable development, it has been
emphasized to plan and implement national
projects mainly in three priority areas
namely, mining and processing of mineral
resources, developing and harvesting possible
sources of surface and ground water and
development of conventional and non-conventional
sources of energy. However, due to lack
of appropriate and environment friendly
technology, proper technical services and
training, quality control, special analysis
facility and industrial waste management
and processing measures, a large number
of industries particularly in small and
medium sectors, fail to flourish and also
many create a lot of environmental pollution.
Keeping these in view, the Institute of
Advance Technology & Environmental Studies
(IATES), Bhubaneswar, India, has been setup
in 1996. |
